Stock Market Game: Virtual Learning, Real-World Connections
Presented by:
The Alabama Council on Economic Education at
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Birmingham Branch
February 12, 2026
9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Are you new to Stock Market Game or need a refresher? The SIFMA Foundation's Stock Market Game™ (SMG) gives students in grades 4-12 the chance to invest a hypothetical $100,000 in an online portfolio. This hands-on professional development is designed to help educators teach SMG as a student-focused, 10-week online simulation.

This SMG workshop helps teachers implement a problem-based learning and real-world teaching tool that also facilitates implementation of STEM guidelines in math and technology. Students make decisions as they work in teams to create and manage an online $100,000 portfolio of stocks and mutual funds.  Students engage in high levels of math, reading, writing, technology, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. NAEP study documents that students who use Stock Market Game have higher reading and math test scores.

Special Emphasis on Researching Stocks Online

There is no cost to register, light breakfast and lunch are provided, and substitute reimbursement is available.

Alabama teachers attending this in-person workshop will receive 5 hour CEU certificate and digital resources.
Workshop is from 9:00am to 2:00pm
