Follow the Yellow Brick Road:
From the Wizard of Oz to the Gold Standard
Presented in cooperation with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta
What do silver shoes, a gold road, and a green city have to do with US history? Which real-life people might Dorothy and her friends represent? Take a trip to Oz and back and learn about the hot election issue that made headlines in 1896 and that is still making news today—what gives money value. History and economics topics covered will include monetary policy, deflation, the gold standard, the Populist Party, and William Jennings Bryan.
Alabama teachers receive $25 and a one hour PD certificate.
