Economic and financial literacy is a skill necessary to function - it's real life. It's about workforce readiness - finding a job - planning a budget - performance - making informed choices - and building a future. The development of economic literacy must begin in the schools. Even young children are capable of learning basic economic concepts that help them understand their world. In the secondary years, that initial foundation can be expanded to include instruction and experiences in a broader set of economic ideas and concepts. The core mission of ACEE is to train teachers in economics and personal finance instruction, enabling them to pass on this knowledge to students in the classroom. ACEE provides seminars and workshops for teachers K-12, and classroom programs for students, utilizing tested and approved curriculum materials that comply with the Alabama State Department of Education standards and graduation requirements.
