Welcome to the Alabama Personal Finance Challenge! Give your students a chance to demonstrate their knowledge of personal finance in a fun and rewarding way!
Competitions for Grades 6-8 and Grades 9-12
Grades 6-8:   State Champion determined by online test.
Grades 9-12: Top online teams are invited to a State Championship at the University of Alabama.
  • January 2, 2025 Teacher Registration Begins Click here to register teams!
  • February 12, 2025 Online competition begins - Click here for student access to take exam! Online test window is open until March 14 - Teams login and face the Challenge! 
  • March 19, 2025 Announcement of top online middle school team.  This team is the Middle School State Champion. Each team member and the teacher sponsor of the State Champion receives $50.  
  • March 19, 2025 Announcement of top online high school teams. Top teams invited to the Alabama State Championship to be held at University of Alabama.
  • April 9, 2025  In-person State Championship at University of Alabama. Each high school team member and the teacher sponsor of the State Champion receives $150.  Team travel stipends to State Championship are available.
  • The high school State Champion represents Alabama in the national finals. The 2025 National Personal Finance Challenge (NPFC) location and date to be announced.  Finals will consist of a Case Study Round. The top teams will present to a VIP judging panel.
Receive $25 if you have 10 teams that participate in the Personal Finance Challenge
  • Teachers – Go to https://financechallenge.unl.edu/ to register for the Alabama Personal Finance Challenge and start creating your student teams. There should be four students on each team.  No limit on number of teams per school.  There is no registration fee.
  •  Each person on a four person team individually completes a 30 question online test.  Test results are confidential
  • Students - Study hard! The Alabama Personal Finance Challenge will test your knowledge of Earning Income, Protecting and Insuring, Spending, Credit, Saving and Investing
